“Brothers’ Cup” at Dobropark: Sport Fishing for Veterans and Their Families

On July 12, Dobropark hosted the “Brothers’ Cup” fishing tournament, held in celebration of Fisherman’s Day. The event brought together veterans, combat veterans, and their families to enjoy sport fishing, outdoor recreation, and meaningful interaction.

The tournament took place at Dobropark on the grounds of Trofey Bass Station—a specialized body of water for sport fishing for largemouth bass, also known as American bass. Participants competed under the international “catch-and-release” rule, whereby fish are returned to the water after being measured.

The main goal of the “Brothers-in-Arms Cup” was to support the emotional recovery of Ukrainiandefenders through time spent in nature, sports activities, interaction with fellow soldiers, and spending time with loved ones. The event was organized for 30 families of veterans and combatants.

Before the competition began, participants took part in a hands-on workshop on sport fishing for American bass. Experienced anglers discussed the specifics of this type of fishing, modern tackle, casting techniques, and methods for working lures. Afterward, the participants moved directly to the tournament.

A separate program was also prepared for the families of the defenders. While the tournament was underway, the participants’ wives were treated to a tour of Dobropark and a photo session among the flower-filled locations, while entertainers kept the children engaged with games, contests, and activities. The program also included a shared meal and time for informal socializing and relaxation.

The “Brothers’ Cup” concluded with a festive awards ceremony. The tournament winners received trophies, medals, and gifts from the organizers and partners, and all participants were presented with commemorative gifts.

The “Brothers’ Cup” was held at Dobropark in collaboration with the “Ukrainian Hunters’ Council” Public Association, the “Trophy” TV channel, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the company “IBIS,” and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.

The “Brothers-in-Arms Cup” has become an event that combines sport fishing with outdoor recreation, family time, and fellowship among brothers-in-arms. For Dobropark, it is important to support initiatives that help veterans and their families recover, spend time together, and feel the care and gratitude of society.
